| Technical characteristics of our silicon carbide heat exchanger |
| Generally, the conventional silicon carbide tube heat exchanger adopts double-layer tubeplate sealing structure, carbon steel tubeplate is placed in the first layer while the second layer is placed with pure tetrafluoro tubeplate or PTFE made from sintering molding process. These tubeplates, however, are dwarfed by the downsides of low strength, easy cracking, unstable sealing performance and limited manufacturing size. It seems that the pressure has been sealed in the above-mentioned structure, but the pure tetrafluoro tubeplate is tend to deform, crack and leak in the event of the tube pass is under high vacuum condition, which has a significant latent risk in use. In addition, the silicon carbide tube is easy to break under instantaneous stress in view of the workmanship defects coupled with brittleness of SiC tube. | |
In case of it was broken when put into service in the client's site, the integral heat exchanger has to be disassembled to replace the silicon carbide tube, which is labor-consuming and laborious. In contrast, our new type of tabular silicon carbide tube heat exchanger using PFA integrated tubeplate with steel-lining. The tubeplate material has the advantages of high density, non-deformation and stable sealing effect. What is better, it further improves the sealing deficiency of the conventional silicon carbide heat exchanger. Engineering two sealing structures in one tubeplate enables seals at shell-side and tube-pass both. In the case of replacing heat exchange tubes, it is only necessary to unfasten two sealing nuts on both ends at first, followed by pulling out SiC tubes, and inserting new tubes. The clients, consequentially, can benefit from the plunge of on-site maintenance cost as it is unnecessary to disassemble the whole unit. Tetrafluoro baffles are used in the shell side of conventional Tabular SiC tube heat exchangers. Due to the brittle characteristics of SiC tubes itself, they are easy to break when exposed to pressure and vibration. We differentiated our design by adding shock absorber plate in the exchanger, which greatly reduced the risk of jitter and easy breaking resulting from pressure, contributing to the augment of heat exchange efficiency and concurrently prolong the service life of the exchanger itself.
